Google has launched seven new exhibitions through its online Cultural Institute platform, celebrating Spain’s influence on the USA over the past half millennia.
The digital exhibits are designed to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de León‘s arrival in Florida, as well as Vasco Nuñez de Balboa discovering the Pacific Ocean. It also marks the 300th anniversary of the birthday of Junipero Serra, who founded some of the first Catholic missions in California.
The exhibitions are: Exploration and Voyages, Spanish Trails in the US, The Exploration of the Pacific Ocean, Material Heritage, Spanish Assistance in the Independence of the US, Spanish Institutions in the US, and Intangible Heritage.

Last week, Google launched another digital exhibit, showing Abraham Lincoln’s handwritten Gettysburg Address, to mark the event’s 150th anniversary.
