Google’s Nikesh Arora: Larry Page lost his voice, but continues to run the company

During today’s quarterly earnings call, Google was asked about CEO Larry Page’s health. This has been a topic of conversation for analysts and investors over the past few weeks, as Page skipped a public appearance at the company’s I/O conference, as well as today’s call.

Senior vice president and chief business officer at Google, Nikesh Arora replied to the question quickly and simply:

Larry has lost his voice, but continues to run the company.

Arora insisted that Page is involved in all company decision making.

Given how scrutinized Apple was over Steve Jobs’ health, it would be unfortunate to see this question continue to pop up over the next few weeks. It has to be assumed that Google will share the important information at the right time.

It’s natural for people to be concerned or interested in a CEO’s health, but there is nothing that shows that Page will have any difficulties moving Google forward now or in the future.
