Justin Lin of Fast Five heading up YOMYOMF’s YouTube original content channel

Asian pop culture blog You Offend Me, You Offend My Family (YOMYOMF) has announced that Fast Five director Justin Lin is overseeing the creation of its official YouTube Channel. This channel will be a part of YouTube’s new original channels initiative.

“YOMYOMF was started so creative and interesting individuals could come together to share their point-of-views in an honest and entertaining way,” Lin explains.”Our new channel is the natural evolution of that philosophy and I look forward to working with new and old friends who share that sensibility.”

Founders of the channel include YouTube stars Ryan Higa and Kevin Wu, as well as Abdul Khan, Philip W. Chung, Cash Warren, NBA star Baron Davis and Chester See.

“We want to support both established and emerging artists who are not only talented, but have that passion,” says Lin. “The young YouTubers like Ryan and Kevin started with nothing, but went out there and created a name and following for their work. ”

The channel’s content will feature a bevy of stars, both YouTube-famous and otherwise, including Jessica Alba, Far East Movement, Community’s Danny Pudi and Joe & Anthony Russo of Arrested Development.

Lin will be overseeing the programming which will contain both scripted and reality series as the channel’s Creative Head, while operations are managed by Philip W. Chung and Abdul Khan. Cash Warren, Alba’s fiancee and documentary producer will also be a member of the management team.

News surfaced early in October that YouTube had reportedly plunked down $100M to fund original content channels in an effort to become a producer of content, not just a platform for sharing. Film distributor Miramax has also reportedly been in talks to produce content.
