Google recently announced some changes to its Google Apps for business. Free business accounts with more than 10 users will now have to sign up for a paid Google Apps for Business account. At the same time, new flexible billing options have been introduced to help small businesses adapt.
Free accounts were previously limited to 50 users but that number is now reduced to 10. Schools and non-profits that use Google Apps for Education are not affected and will continue to enjoy Google’s services for free.
To help small businesses adjust, Google has introduced new flexible plans that give companies the option to pay $5 per month per user without any contractual commitments. Google will also continue to offer the cheaper annual plans for $50 per user per year.
It is worth mentioning that only new customers will be impacted by this change. Existing Google Apps customers can expand beyond 10 users (up to a maximum of 50) at no additional charge. Free Google Apps for groups with 10 users or less will still be available for everyone.
