No Man’s Sky mod for Doom will take you back to the future

If you’ve been dying to try out No Man’s Sky, but your Pentium II doesn’t pack the oomph to run it – there’s now a Doom remake of the popular game that will take you back to the future.

Developed by Robert Prest over the course of three weeks, No Guy’s Sky uses the original original Doom engine to recreate the universe of No Man’s Sky and give it a 90s feel.

While the remake is missing some of No Man’s Sky’s features, it’s pretty damn close to the original game and you can still get the whole interplanetary experience. The mod also has its own signature ‘Center of the Universe’ – just like the real thing.

Here’s what Prest had to say about No Guy’s Sky:

Everything is randomly generated from an array, including the scenery, sky, floor, plans and aliens etc. There is plenty more that can be added relatively simply, and due to the flipbook style randomisation on the creatures, each addition makes exponentially more creatures and possible planets, but I didn’t want to spend too long on this before releasing.

As an added bonus, you can mess around with the files to put your own face in the game – if that’s what you’re into.
