Instagram dives deeper into video by acquiring image stabilization app Luma

Instagram has acquired Luma, the maker of an app for recording and sharing videos, as it moves to better secure its recent entry into the wonderful world of moving pictures, TechCrunch reports. Luma has discontinued its app and service, but it will continue to provide support until the end of this year.

Given their common interest in video filters, the Luma team should fit right in at Instagram. Luma’s image stabilization technology could also make its way into Cinema, Instagram’s own image stabilization feature.
