Facebook suffering downtime across Latin America

Facebook suffering downtime across Latin America

Many Facebook users across Latin America have been having difficulties to access the social network over the last three hours.

A significant number of people on twitter are reporting the outage, stemming from different places across the region, including Colombia, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Uruguay.

Beyond Twitter, this service disruption has also hit Facebook’s page on Downrightnow, which is dedicated to monitoring downtime of major sites.

While this is not a full outage – users still manage to access Facebook through its mobile version and the problem is only intermittent – it’s still a fairly serious downtime for such a large platform.

Surprisingly, there aren’t any recent status updates or mentions of this problem on Facebook’s official platform page. And what makes this all rather amusing is that Mark Zuckerberg himself is reportedly holidaying in Latin America at the time we write.
