Startupbootcamp Berlin to focus on smart transport and energy, with US program to follow

Startupbootcamp Berlin to focus on smart transport and energy, with US program to follow

European accelerator Startupbootcamp has today announced that its Berlin-based program will focus on startups working in the areas of smart energy and transportation in the future, and that a new US-based program looking at the same topics will also be established next year.

The company said that it’s the first time that a major European organisation has launched a new accelerator in the US and that the “cross-continental program” will focus on the “connected and efficient mobility of people and goods”. The San Francisco-based accelerator is scheduled to launch in early 2015.

The ten most promising startups from the applications received by both units will then get to attend the three-month Startupbootcamp programs in Berlin and San Francisco respectively. Teams also get €15,000 (around $21,000) and six-months free working space.

For the refocus, the company lined up partners to provide support for the program, which comes from the likes of Bosch, Nokia HERE, Castrol innoVentures, Cisco and Daimler.
