Welcome to our weekly column, in which YouTuber NimbleThor brings you a short list of the best new mobile games for your Android device, released over the past week. Whether you’re into casual time wasters or hardcore shooters, you’ll find something in here to exercise your thumbs with.

No, Trey! NO! I don’t want to hear you talk about your sister’s wedding for the millionth time while you loudly chew your tuna salad. If only I had a good excuse to stay away from you and my other gross colleagues during breaks…

Feel like you’re in the same boat? I might have something for you: A bunch of great new Android games to play while avoiding the lunch room!
Satisfaction not guaranteed. But does it beat listening to Trey? Absolutely.

H3H3: Ball Rider

  • Size: 148 MB
  • Price: Free
  • Genre: Arcade | Requires online access

H3H3: Ball Rider is a fun endless cave-runner (think Jetpack Joyride) that features the YouTube couple Ethan and Hila from their pop culture channel H3H3Productions.

Filled with references to the channel and its more popular videos, the game is a must-try for any H3H3 fan. It mixes 8-bit graphics with a more modern look, and the controls are innovative. You’ll have to control Hila’s character as she runs around a ball-shaped Ethan to progress through levels and grab collectibles along the way.

The varied levels are fun to explore, with lots of unique traps to avoid as you go. But at the end of the day, it’s a casual endless runner – so set your expectations accordingly.

Caves

  • Size: 73 MB
  • Price: Free
  • Genre: Rogue-like / Role Playing | Playable offline

With its great retro art style, Caves is a dark, gritty, and super difficult indie rogue-like RPG that’ll keep you busy for hours.

The turn-based game has you setting out to explore a vast randomly-generated cave, fighting off spiders, skeletons, and everything else standing in the way between you and the many treasure chests strewn across the environment.

With a ton of different items and weapons to find on your quests or buy and use right away, there’s plenty to keep you busy and keep you coming back for more.

BattleHand

  • Size: 366 MB
  • Price: Free
  • Genre: Role Playing | Cards | Requires online access

BattleHand is a card-collecting strategy RPG where two of your heroes charge into battle under your command, each with their unique customizable deck of skill cards for combat.

There’s no cost to using a card, but each has a number indicating how many turns it’ll take to use. You’ll need to develop a strategy for deciding which cards to use at various points, and figure out when they’ll be re-shuffled into your hand.

The combat is really satisfying, the art style is highly polished, and the skill animations look fantastic. If you dig card-based battles, this is worth a go.
