Track how your team uses Slack with Google Analytics

Track how your team uses Slack with Google Analytics

Here’s a fun project for Slack users. Google’s Developer Expert Nico Miceli has whipped up a bot that can monitor your team’s activity in the collaboration app and beam back metrics to Google Analytics.

Miceli says his Slackalytics bot could be used by consultants to track channels for individual clients, or to see how often members of your team communicate with each other.

You can implement the beta version out of the box to measure things like word count, emoji and exclamation usage, and visualize it with graphs using Google Analytics.

Alternatively, you can put your coding chops to the test by forking Miceli’s project on GitHub to track other stats, and even use other messaging apps’ APIs. Visit his site for a guide to getting started.
