The API Mashup Contest is back, looking for innovative business ideas based on existing APIs

The API Mashup Contest is back, looking for innovative business ideas based on existing APIs

The API Mashup Contest has returned for its fifth edition, aiming to find the most innovative, viable business ideas based on mashing up existing APIs.

Founded by Pavel Curda, API Mashups has expanded beyond a contest to offer the ability for developers to find new team members, via a partnership with IdeasWatch. The API Mashups site has also started curating API news from around the Web.

As ever, a panel of judges will assess the entries for the latest contest, and the winner will receive access to a growing family of mentors, discounts from API partners, and a preferential position on IdeasWatch’s website and emails.

The contest is open to developers from all over the world, and judges this time include high-profile angel investor Esther Dyson; Apiary founder Jakub Nesetril, ProgrammableWeb’s Executive Editor, Adam DuVander; Rob Spectre, developer evangelist for Twilio; API evangelist Kin Lane; SEOmoz founding president Gillian Muessig… and me.

So, if you use APIs in an interesting and creative way in your startup, get your application in as soon as you can. The deadline is 31 May 2013.
