After seeing modest success from their respective ebook releases, designers Sacha Greif and Nathan Barry have detailed the whole process, from writing and designing to sales and marketing, in a podcast.
Greif published part one of the series (transcript included) on Tuesday, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the work that went into making the books and generating sales. His book about user interface design, which he released independently on his website, made $10,000 in sales in its first month, while Barry’s App Design Handbook brought in over $20,000 in two weeks.
Part one includes a discussion on coming up with an idea, tips on writing consistently, software suggestions, pricing strategies and recommendations for delivery services. In next week’s podcast, the duo will talk about landing pages, testimonials, marketing, and traffic.
