Aye! Step aboard thar for me designer’s booty, ye landlubber!
We’ve just discovered this collection of old
pirate ship sailboat logomarks, and couldn’t help ourselves from indulging in all the vintage, hand-crafted goodness. From the looks of it, there are more than 500 designs here getting dusty on an old Angelfire site, and so we thought the least we could do is pick out a few favorites for our fellow designers:
Now, if this isn’t too captivating for you, don’t fret — gushing over logomarks isn’t for everyone, but it certainly is for most designers out there. Throw in a few puffins, penguins, skipjacks and pandas, and we’re sold.
Some of the listed companies turn up quickly through your run-of-the-mill Google search (usually the ones with highly specific names, like Sandpiper 565), but others will take some digging.
Nevertheless, plenty of these old-school designs have quite a bit a heart and should be inspiring for Web and print designers alike — especially those that have ever experimented with branding and logo development.
