Artwhatson helps Australian artists market their exhibitions via mobile

Artwhatson helps Australian artists market their exhibitions via mobile

Artwhatson is an Australian directory of art galleries and exhibitions with an accompanying location-based iPhone app.

The site makes it easier for artists to market themselves in the niche and competitive world of gallery exhibitions. Members’ listings are shown on the website and newsletter, but also in the iPhone app’s Nearby listing when users are in the area.

For artists, the pricing is pretty steep — it’s $50 per month, with discounts applying to longer terms ($250 per year if you sign up for 12 months), but membership offers a range of marketing benefits.

The iPhone app is the most interesting part of Artwhatson, particularly for art fans. If you’re living in or visiting Australia and want to check out Australian art, it’s worth a download.
