OnOne punches up cross-platform Perfect Photo Suite editing toolkit

OnOne, makers of advanced photo editing software and plug-ins for Photoshop, Lightroom and Aperture, has released an upgrade to its seven-app Perfect Photo Suite with a focus on turbocharging performance and usability.

The app features improvements in browsing photos, portrait retouching, processing speed and more.

The new version lets photographers use Perfect Browse as a front end to their Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop photo libraries to boost the speed of their workflow.

Version 9.5 promises a 50 percent improvement in the speed of viewing large Raw files in detail for quicker sorting, rating and disposing of images. When you’re done, you can send rated images to Lightroom or other applications.

Other new Perfect Browse features include creating a collection of favorites and viewing them without needing to search needing to search, as well as the added ability to use the app’s Album Hot Spot to drag and drop photos. Albums can reside on your hard drive or in the cloud.

Portrait retouching and special effects filters also get a speed boost with the new version. Perfect Portrait is now faster for auto face detection and identifying facial details. Improved control points and smoother sliders make it easier to edit portraits.

GPU acceleration also hastens performance of many of the filters in Perfect Effects.

In addition, a new Line Mask tool lets you create a straight path for masking sharp edges where brushing is difficult. Luminosity Masks let you work on the luminance values (lighter and darker parts) of a photo based on a specific selection.

You can use OnOne Perfect Photo Suite as a system that works as a plug-in or as a standalone application. The Suite’s seven component apps provide tools for editing your photos, improving portraits, adding looks in color or black and white, resizing for large-format printing and making complex selections or masks.

Version 9.5 of the Perfect Photo Suite is available for Mac and Windows free of charge for all current owners. Perfect Photo Suite Premium (which includes both standalone apps and plug-ins) is $129.95 (upgrade, $79.95) while the Basic standalone version is available from the Mac App Store for $79.99. A free 30-day trial is available from the company’s Website.
