JooJoo/CrunchPad Coming to Australia in 2010

JooJoo/CrunchPad Coming to Australia in 2010

JooJoo, the much-hyped net-tablet is due to be released in Australia next year according to its maker, Fusion Garage’s CEO, Chandra Rathakrishnan.

The news, as well as a bunch of other information about the device, was revealed in an interview with Duncan Riley on the Inquistr

For those who aren’t up to speed, JooJoo used to be called the CrunchPad, a device previously associated with Mike Arrington and the TechCrunch crew. Arrington and co. joined with Singapore’s Fusion Garage to form the CrunchPad team. Interestingly, included in the team was controversial Aussie startup entrepreneur/tech-guy Nik Cubrilovic.

With what seemed like moments to go before the CrunchPad was due to be launched something happened and Fusion Garage and Arrington parted ways.

Arrington’s side of the story can be found here.

Fusions Garage’s here.

A good summary of the whole JooJoo / CrunchPad affair can be found on wikipedia

All the hype and scandal aside, the end result for consumers is that the device is still going to hit the market, which is great news – I mean who couldn’t do without a lightweight 12″ touchscreen tablet that boots in seconds and costs only US$499?
