Product Hunt acquired by AngelList for around $20 million

Product Hunt, the popular web resource for finding new apps and products, has been acquired by startup platform Angel List. Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover described the merger as “peanut butter and jelly” in a blog post.

While AngelList focuses on fundraising and recruiting, Product Hunt gets the word out to the world using a Reddit-like upvote system. Product Hunt has helped launch tools and apps from individual developers to the likes of Google (see: GBoard) and Instagram (see: Hyperlapse).

The purchase came in at around $20 million, according to Recode. AngelList is quick to clarify that Product Hunt will remain independent and maintain ” its playful, empathic and curious attitude.” The acquisition will focus on adding new integrations between their respective platforms in the coming months.
