Instagram is currently down for many users. Down Detector showed a strong spike in outage reports starting at approximates 1:04 PM ET, and indeed the company itself sent out a reassuring tweet.

The company just rolled out an update that introduced a shopping feature – we wouldn’t be surprised if the outage is related.
Not all users are affected – it’s all fine and dandy for us here at TNW, but still widespread enough for the company to acknowledge the outage.

Update 2:45 PM ET: Service now seems to be restored for everyone.
