Trulia now has an Apple TV app for home buyers

Trulia now has an Apple TV app for home buyers

You can now shop for a new home on your Apple TV via Trulia.

The company is releasing its first official Apple TV app, which lets you browse homes in your area without leaving the couch. In addition to seeing what’s available, you’ll also be able to see images a real estate agent has posted to the Trulia listing.

If that agent has created a video walkthrough, you’ll also be able to view it on your big screen. Of course, any other details about a listing are also available on Apple TV.

Trulia is also making its search algorithm available for Apple TV, which automatically distills listings into categories that lean on its ‘local insights’ data. You can browse through categories like ‘safe neighborhoods’ or ‘great schools’ in your area.

That same type of location data is made available within home listings, too. Sadly, the app is limited to those interested in buying homes; if you want to rent, the mobile app or website are still your best bets.

Unfortunately, Apple TV still doesn’t allow for actionable apps, so you won’t be able to schedule a walk-through of your own via the Apple TV app. You can save homes as favorites, but you’ll need to visit the Trulia website or mobile app to follow through. It’s a bit like the AirBNB Apple TV app in that sense, which is great for discovery, but sometimes feels as though it’s grasping at straws to keep users interested.

The app is available today, and accompanies a refreshed Trulia iOS app that offers a modern aesthetic and simpler user experience.
