Today, if you want to play multiplayer on mobile, you’ll need to mess around with IP addresses, network ports and the like, but Minecraft is finally putting Realms on Android out for alpha testing.
Hate spammy ICOs and crappy cryptocurrencies?
So do we.
In the future, you’ll only need an Xbox login if you plan on playing against others online.
You can also get involved with the Realms on Windows 10 beta, which supports up to five players, but it only works if you’re on the same network.
Eventually, the idea is that you’ll be able to play anyone on any device but that “isn’t out officially for a little while,” Mojang says.
It’ll also be a paid-for experience, although exact details haven’t been revealed, so better start saving your pennies now.
