Microsoft’s new Windows Phone app lets you recommend home maintenance services to friends

Home Team, the latest app to emerge from Microsoft’s Garage initiative, is designed to let Windows Phone users share recommendations for home maintenance professionals — like plumbers and gardeners —with your contacts.

You can recommend professionals for various household tasks and even ask contacts to share their favorites

Of course, you aren’t restricted to those categories and can also recommend trusted doctors, babysitters, mechanics and more.

The app lets you create a ‘team’ of professionals you trust and share their contacts easily with friends. You can connect with people on Facebook or join an office network to share recommendations with your colleagues.

It’s certainly an interesting idea — people value word-of-mouth recommendations over loud advertisements. Whether you frequently need help around the house or are the go-to person for solutions to household problems in your circle, Home Team sounds like it could come in handy.

The company’s platform-agnostic Garage project sees its developers cook up nifty things like a gesture-based search app, a beautiful lock screen replacement and a tool for scheduling meetings with friends.
