Visa Checkout expands its online payment service to 10 new countries today

Visa Checkout expands its online payment service to 10 new countries today

Following seven months of testing Visa Checkout in the US, Canada and Australia, Visa will roll out its digital payments service in 13 additional countries this year, starting with 10 markets today.

Visa did not specify which 10 countries Checkout will be launching in today, but by the end of 2015, it will be available in the following markets: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, Peru, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and United Arab Emirates.

There are some restrictions in place at the moment, which means any new users of the payment system will only be able to buy from merchants in the US, Canada or Australia that ship globally. We’re expecting new merchant partnerships to be signed globally as Checkout expands.

Checkout replaced Visa’s more sophisticated V.me digital wallet last summer and has garnered over three million users to date.
