After hitting 10 million unique monthly “fans” and generating $100 million in ticket revenue, Songkick is introducing a new suggestion and discovery system to its iOS app.

Along the bottom of the screen is a new “Recommended” tab which, as the name suggests, lists a series of concerts that you might be interested in. The user interface is a simple grid, with artists photos and clear typography denoting their name and where they’ll be playing.

Songkick

Songkick already serves up concert alerts for your favorite artists, either by scanning your music library or curated Spotify playlists. These new recommendations are, therefore, centered on artists that you probably aren’t quite as familiar with. The company says these are based on the artists you’re already tracking and the concerts you’ve previously attended – as the above screenshot shows, the updated app will note which of your preferred bands, singers and DJs they’re similar to.

Tap once and you’ll be greeted with the standard Songkick concert page, where you can confirm your attendance, review ticket prices and information about the venue. It’s a welcome development for the iOS app – I always want to attend more concerts, but struggle to know what and when I should be booking. If Songkick can give me a little inspiration, that’s certainly handy.
