Fleksy for Android now challenges you to become the fastest texter in the world

Fleksy is rolling out a couple of updates to its smart keyboard app on Android and iOS today, with the company saying that the apps now have the “most accurate Fleksy Engine yet”. In real terms, the iOS incarnation has been given six new languages, and the Android incarnation has been given an interesting new feature.

It seems that a Fleksy user has recently achieved a Guinness World Record for the fastest texting on a touchscreen smartphone, an accolade previously held by users of Microsoft’s and Swype’s respective keyboards. The official phrase that has to be typed? Glad you asked:

“The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”

To mark the occasion, the Fleksy Android app now sports a World Record Challenge feature, encouraging users to beat the newly-set Fleksy record of 18.19 seconds.

Fleksy first arrived as a standalone app for iOS, one that lets you export your text to other services, including Facebook and Twitter thus circumventing Apple’s third-party keyboard restrictions. Back in December, the company announced it was ramping up its presence across the iOS ecosystem by opening the Fleksy SDK to third-party services.

Fleksy uses what it calls ‘Geometric Intelligence’ to combat sloppy and inaccurate typing, predicting where it thinks you meant to hit on the keyboard based on your typing patterns. This, in theory, should help users type more quickly.
