Spotify updates its iOS app to offer free music streaming in shuffle mode

Spotify updates its iOS app to offer free music streaming in shuffle mode

A month ago, Spotify announced that it would be offering free, shuffle-based music streaming for Android and iOS users. Today, it’s now available to all iPhone and iPad users.

An update to the Spotify for iOS app means that you can now listen to any artist, playlist or album on your smartphone or tablet, provided playback is set to shuffle mode. As before, you’ll need to pay for a premium account ($9.99 a month) to unlock Spotify’s full-blown, on-demand music streaming service.

Update: Some users are reporting that they’ve had access to the free, shuffle-based streaming service since the original announcement. It’s possible that Spotify has been rolling the feature out gradually to its iOS users.
