Etsy updates its iPad app with gift cards, seller tools and shop statistics

Etsy updates its iPad app with gift cards, seller tools and shop statistics

The Etsy app for iPad has been updated today, introducing a slew of new features that are already available on its iPhone counterpart, such as shop statistics, the ability to create new listings and other seller tools.

It’s a minor update admittedly, following on from the launch of Etsy’s iPad app just a few weeks ago. However, given that most users are right in the middle of Christmas shopping at the moment, it’s not surprising that Etsy wants its new app to be as polished and functional as possible.

More online purchases than ever before are coming from mobile devices, including the iPad, so it’s important that Etsy nails this platform early.

Version 2.3 of the iPad app now allows users to order and send Etsy Gift Cards. It can also be used to redeem and apply a gift card balance when making a purchase – although both features are only available for users in the United States right now.

Oh, and most importantly, “the ‘cha-ching’ cash register noise when a sale is made – a favorite and highly requested feature,” has also been added to the app, according to an Etsy spokesperson.

Along with access to Shop Stats and the “ability to create new listings, and access all other seller tools that are currently available on Etsy for iPhone”, users can now access translated versions of the service for Dutch, French, German, and British English users.

The update to the iPad app is part of a much larger push by Etsy on mobile devices. Earlier this month the company launched its first app for Android smartphones, following on from an update to its iPhone app in late October, which has already passed 2.8 million downloads.
