The new ‘Activity Stream’ works much the same way as the notification system used on Facebook or Spotify, updating users about any notebooks they happen to be sharing or have access to. Just click the satellite dish icon in the top toolbar for a dropdown of everything that’s happening.
It’s a useful feature, especially for people which use Evernote as a way of recording and sharing ideas with other people. Thinking about redesigning a room in your flat? Share your scrapbook of thoughts with your other half, and then be notified later when they’ve had a chance to look through or make amendments. Have a to do list for work? Be notified every time someone has a new project for you to look at.
Evernote say they’ve also been working hard to make the application ready for the “drool-worthy” Macbook Retina displays. Every button, texture, shadow and image has been given a facelift, making the entire experience just a little bit sweeter. Not that Evernote looked bad before, but it’s good to see more of the essential apps getting a makeover for Apple’s new hardware.
The update is currently only available from the Evernote website.
