Tumblr’s updated Android app gets a new a new lick of paint and more features

Tumblr released a new version of its Android app on the Android Market on Tuesday. For version 2.0, the app is rewritten from the ground up, says the company, and it sports a new look and many more snazzy features.

Clad in spiffy new veneer, the app now allows you to sign up for a Tumblr account from within it and manage all your Tumblr blogs easily, so you can post funny pictures of your cat on one blog while speculating on the future of mankind on another. You can also manage your drafts, post queues and followers right from within the app.

You can go through the messages you’ve received and reply to them and find more people to follow by having the app scour your address book for existing Tumblr users. Finally, it also includes a new widget that you can keep on your home screen, allowing you to quickly post to Tumblr whenever you get the itch.

The app is free, as it always has been, and is available for download on the Android Market.
