GetGlue adds Foursquare integration and sports check-ins

GetGlue adds Foursquare integration and sports check-ins

GetGlue, a social network for entertainment, with free iOS, Android, and web-based apps, now features 900k users, in addition to 12M unique monthly check-ins.

The iPhone app has received updates today allowing users to check into sports programs, and share one’s location via Foursquare.

GetGlue Version 2.4.1 for iPhone offers a redesigned UI, complete with larger buttons, one offering sports program check-in capability.  Through the addition, sports fans can share what they’re watching, be it a favorite sport/team or an event.

The more times you check-in to your favorite sporting events, sport, or team, you can unlock achievements, becoming a GetGlue Fan or Superfan, earn stickers and become the Guru.

Partnering with and offering rewards for GetGlue users for sports check-ins include:

  • NHL (NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs)
  • FOX Sports (MLB and NASCAR events)
  • HBO Sports
  • Showtime Sports
  • NFL Network
  • Speed
  • FOX Soccer channel
  • FOX College Sports
  • Fuel TV

As if that wasn’t enough, GetGlue has added the ability to share your location via Foursquare with every check-in.  In doing so, now one can check-in to content at a particular location.

With Foursquare integration users can choose content, check-in and share their location in one easy step, telling friends what they are doing and giving the user rewards and points in both networks.

Disappointed GetGlue Android and iPad users fret not, GetGlue CEO Alex Iskold indicates updates to both the iPad and Android apps “are in the works.”

If you’ve yet to try GetGlue, it’s a grand service with well-designed apps, regardless of platform. Pick up the Android version here, the iOS version here, and iPhone users, let us know what you think of the new GetGlue!
