Google Unleashes Upgrades For Docs and Sites

Google Unleashes Upgrades For Docs and Sites

Google has rolled out a grip of updates to both its Docs and Sites services that will be useful for  enterprise customers and normal consumer users alike. Docs and Sites are Google’s answers to simple website creation and traditional productivity suites,  two areas where Google wants to grow its clout and wound the profits of their competition.

Today in Docs, Google has upgraded the following points:

  • Faster linking: type in a link and Docs will recognize it and automatically create the link for you.
  • More page size options for documents, giving you the ability to write and see properly formatted text in the size you want to print in.
  • Spell check for Google spreadsheets (at long last).

Docs and Sites received a team integration upgrade with Google having created “quick links to open Google Docs that are embedded in a site, making it easier for collaborators to open embedded documents.” Google Sites can also now contain universal footers, which can be designed to have top horizontal navigation.

This is another small round of very useful, and very overdue upgrades from Google. If past development cycles are any indication, Google will release another set of features in a week or two. The stuff announced today should be live in your account now.
