TNW Quick Hit

Movie Vault is an new iPad app providing access to a catalog of over 1200 movies and television shows from the last 100 years.

Love It: Stream catalog of classics to your iPad over Wi-fi or 3G for free after purchasing the app.

Hate It: Nothing, but for those that don’t love classic television and films, this may not be the app for you.

Overall: 5/5

The Details:

I am a classic literature, music, movie and television fan.  Regardless of genre, if the media is from a time long, long, ago, I am willing to read, listen or watch it.

A new iPad app I am extremely excited about is Movie Vault ($4.99).  With Movie Vault you can stream great feature length films and television shows over 3G and Wi-fi, for free, on your iPad.

With access to a catalog of over 1200 movies and television shows, and growing, from the last 100 years, Movie Vault is tremendous addition to one’s iPad media options.

Each item in the app’s catalog is searchable by director, actor, writer, and more, complete with the classic cover art, all presented in a manner mimicking the layout of iBooks.

What kind of classic content does Movie Vault offer?  Grand films and actors we’ve all heard of and truly love, including; actors like John Wayne, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, Bing Crosby, Charlie Chaplin, and movies from great directors like Hitchcock and Romero.

Further, the developers, Fling Soft LLC, have built update functionality right into the application so as they update the content, you will get it the next day. No updates through Apple needed, just a simple push update right to you.

Additional functionality is coming to Movie Vault which will only add to this app’s greatness.  On the horizon?  Saving movies to a personal play list, allowing you to pickup where you left off and an iPhone version of Movie Vault, all coming soon!

For classic and movie fans, Movie Vault is a must have.  With the extensive collection of titles, beautiful interface and the forthcoming additions to the app, I am truly happy to have Movie Vault on my iPad and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
