PayPal UK launches customer tool to combat Phishing

According to PayPal research, conducted by Opinium, over half (58%) of UK internet users are currently at risk of a phishing attack; having admitted to responding to a phishing email or clicking on a link in it.

This is clearly a problem for UK PayPal users and one that PayPal have worked to help combat with today’s release of a free plug-in.

Iconix eMail ID is launched today in an increasing attempt to prevent UK PayPal users from clicking on phishing emails. The plug- in works to identify all genuine emails coming from PayPal by displaying a gold lock next to the genuine emails. The free plugin works for all major email solutions including Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.
