Twitter’s new mobile site goes live

Twitter’s new mobile site goes live

IMG_0194It’s been a long time coming but Twitter’s refreshed new mobile site is now live.

Twitter are keen to point out this is just “preview”, and currently works best on Webkit browsers – Android, iPhone, Nokia S60 and Palm Web OS phones all come with these browsers installed. Other browsers like BlackBerry work too, but not up to the standard they would wish.

The old mobile site is still accessible via http://m.twitter.com, with Twitter gradually moving its users over to the new mobile site once early bugs and fixes are made.

The mobile site doesn’t appear to feature lists just yet, which seems rather strange. That aside, credit where its due, the attention to detail is rich, new retweets are included and while you’re unlikely to switch from the likes of Tweetie and Tweetdeck, for a quick peak of a twitter profile or your mentions, it’s a welcome refresh.

You can test it out yourself by pointing your phones browser to http://mobile.twitter.com.
