Watch the livestream of Apple and the FBI testify before Congress

Apple’s fight with the DoJ and FBI about encryption is, to this point, positioning. At the top of the hour, everyone will have their chance to testify before congress.

At the crux of this argument is what Apple is calling GovtOS, an open version of iOS that is necessary to unlock phones that are otherwise encrypted. Apple says the FBI getting its way will be the start of a “police state.

Dubbed ‘The Encryption Tightrope: Balancing Americans’ Security and Privacy,’ Apple’s lead counsel Bruce Sewell will argue to Congress that the company should not be forced to sidestep encryption protocols it has fought so hard to implement.  The FBI, of course, is making this about a single phone belonging to a known terrorist — not creating a backdoor into our digital lives.

If you’re interested (and I really hope you are, because it’s that important), you can livestream the video above.
