Apple’s new TV box comes with an updated interface and one of the coolest things about that refresh are the parallax buttons that react to your touch on the remote.
Over on the human interface guidelines page of Apple’s developer site you can get a little hint at what those look like. Each button reacts to your thumb’s movement on the new remote’s trackpad.
The new parallax buttons are a required item for developers and are made up of between two to five images to give the illusion of depth to buttons on the home screen. Apple recommends the layers are provided separately so components can move around individually.
Developers can use the icons within their apps, but aren’t required to have them beyond the home button. More than anything, they’re hypnotic, beautiful and fun to watch, as well as a nice addition to the interface.
The new Apple TV will be available in October around the world starting at $149.
