Former Apple retail chief Ron Johnson reportedly launching gadget delivery startup

Former Apple retail chief Ron Johnson reportedly launching gadget delivery startup

If you enjoy your local Apple Store, you largely have former Apple executive Ron Johnson to thank for it. According to The Information, Johnson is looking to make a comeback with a new startup offering “a high-end, on-demand delivery service for gadgets.”

Johnson oversaw the rise of Apple’s retail empire and then left to become CEO at department store JC Penney. He attempted to relaunch JC Penney with more stable pricing and a micro-shop strategy, but the company ousted him after a year and a half.

Johnson’s latest idea, as outlined by The Information, sounds a lot like a combination of Apple’s Online Store and FedEx. But hey, we’re not ones to complain about access to more gadgets.
