Samsung’s own 2010 report recommended inferior Galaxy S became more like Apple’s iPhone

Samsung’s own 2010 report recommended inferior Galaxy S became more like Apple’s iPhone

The Apple-Samsung trial is fascinating the media, industry watchers and public alike for a number of reasons. While the crux of the matter revolves around whether the Korea technology giant has infringed upon Apple’s patents, the world is being treated to a glut of confidential details — including past Apple prototypes and damage claims — and a rather interesting new piece of information was just admitted as evidence: a Samsung report comparing its Galaxy S device (referred to as ‘S1’) to the iPhone.

First noted by All Things D, the 2010-report has been translated from Korean into English and the whopping 132-page long document has been put forward by Apple. In it, Samsung engineers pore over the Apple phone and the S1, noting 126 points were the iPhone is superior.

There is plenty of fascinating information, such as this note on copy and paste – an update that Apple has helped standardize today.

And the homescreen, icons etc:

ATD’s John Packowski has posted the full document on Scribbed, so you can take a look there (below) if you’re so inclined.

Though the evidence, submitted by Apple, clearly shows that Samsung was actively casting its eyes over the competition, and Apple in particular, the Cupertino-based firm is ultimately aiming to prove that Samung infringed on its patents.

This document alone, however, will make Samsung pretty uncomfortable and it makes the company look as though it has copied the iPhone for its future devices.
