Verizon iPhone 4 Sells Out, Orders Begin Shipping

Verizon iPhone 4 Sells Out, Orders Begin Shipping

The long-awaited Verizon iPhone 4 went on sale via the Verizon website at 3am EST yesterday, launching slightly before pre-orders opened on the Apple website. In less than 24 hours, the Verizon iPhone 4 has sold out, pre-order pages have been pulled and orders have begun shipping.

Verizon officially stopped processing pre-orders at 8pm on Thursday evening, Apple following suit and removing its pre-order functionality from the Apple Store. Visitors to the Verizon website are now met with a following message: “We are no longer taking pre-sale orders. Experience yours when it’s available online and in stores.”

Despite the sudden lack of iPhone 4 availability, Verizon has already started to ship orders processed yesterday, sending emails to customers who successfully ordered their handset. Shipments have not begun to track just yet but evidence suggest the mobile operator is delivering on its promise to get handsets to customers by the February 10 deadline.

Those still wanting to order an iPhone 4 on Verizon will now have to wait until next week when the device goes on general sale. Online sales will begin again on February 9 at 3:01am EST and customers can buy from Apple Stores from 7am on February 10.

Pre-orders were available online only, with prices starting at $199.99 for the 16GB iPhone 4 or $299.99 for the 32GB model. Customers are required to sign a two-year contract.

We have a funny feeling Apple and Verizon could issue a press release this morning to highlight how successful the first day of sales was for both companies. Stay tuned, we will of course update you if they do so.
