It’s a market in which Airbnb is undoubtedly the leader, but there are plenty of players in the peer-to-peer property rental market. 9flats is a particularly interesting example.
Founded by Stephan Uhrenbacher, best known for founding Yelp rival (and now subsidiary) Qype, 9flats is based in Germany and targets the European market. However, having recently acquired Canada’s iStopOver, the company is starting to spread its wings.
I caught up with Uhrenbacher at the Dublin Web Summit recently to find out more about how 9flats is going. It was announced that Qype had been acquired by Yelp just days after the interview, so sadly I didn’t get a chance to grill him about that.
