Channel 4, a TV broadcaster in the UK, has announced that it’s releasing an iOS app for Channel 4 News, and it will carry video, special reports, blogs and picture galleries.

The app can be accessed with WiFi or 3G connectivity, and users can view the latest domestic and international news stories, plus the most important news from politics, science and technology, business and culture.

Plus, all the Channel 4 News blogs, including Cathy Newman’s FactCheck and the World News Blog. A special ‘Catch up’ feature will also be available on the app, allowing users to watch video of the last seven days from the Channel 4 News at noon and 7pm programmes.

BBC first released a news app back in July 2010, with the Android version following in May this year. Channel 4 has said it plans to release an Android version of its news app within a few months.

As with any good app, the Channel 4 News app will allow users to share all of this content through social media and email, and it will be available to download for free from Friday July 15. You can read more about the iOS app on Channel 4’s website.

Jon Snow, a presenter for Channel 4 News, says:

“It’s amazing – now you can get everything you need from us at the flick of a finger. The journalists you trust, the news and analysis you need, the best of Channel 4 News delivered direct to your tablet or phone. Take us with you, wherever you go!”
