With its new iPhone app, Wagamama becomes the first UK restaurant to let you order from your Phone.

Wagamama iPhone AppWagamama’s, the chain of pan-asian inspired noodlebars has released an iPhone app today which is believed to be the first restaurant in the UK to offer a ordering service via the iPhone, report Brand Republic.

The application lets users browse through the available menu, check out recent orders and organise their favourite dishes all in a straight forward tidy interface.

You can also choose which restaurant and when you’d like to pick up the order, and pay for it too including neat functionality that allows the application to determine your nearest restaurant.

Steve Hill, Chief Exec at Wagamama’s, explained the thinking behind the decision to develop the application.

“At Wagamama we have always embraced the newest technology, so we’re proud to be first-to-market in the restaurant sector with our new iphone app, bringing the Wagamama experience to the iphone offers more flexible ordering than ever before, coupled with the speed and quality of service that our customers know and love.”

Wagamama iPhone MenuWith other transactional applications such as Ocado and Amazon UK,  iPhone and other smart phone users are finding purchasing goods through their phone a much more approachable task.

With the iPad hitting UK stores in late March/April time, it will be interesting to see how many other retailers jump on the bandwagon and offer transactional services in addition to content oriented applications, through the various mobile platforms this year.

Whether the application is being rolled out across their world wide collection of restaurants is unclear as yet though it’s  definitely a coup for UK customers that will have a richer and more accessible experience when ordering food from the chain.
