Twitter announces Periscope Producer for streams with professional equipment

Periscope is getting a big new feature today aimed at helping brands and companies share ‘professional, produced live video.’ Basically, Twitter wants Periscope videos to stop be more than just blurrycam messesshot on cellphones.

In its current form, Periscope only streams from consumer cameras devices, meaning brands with the resources for expensive equipment would be relegated to shooting video with their phones. That doesn’t make for exciting options when Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and other all offer both mobile and professional video tools.

The company has so far partnered with a few different brands like Disney, Louis Vuitton, and Sky News, but you can expect a lot more to show up soon. It will still be a bit of an uphill battle for Periscope to match up to the popularity of services like Facebook and YouTube, but with the recent success of streams on Twitter, Periscope definitely still has room to grow.
