YouTube is down (or was at the time of posting this), their blog is down too as they oddly didn’t have the sense to host it under a sub domain.

Veetweet is Youtube with ADHDIf you’ve had your attention span worn down by years of watching bite-size web videos then Veetweet might be just the service for you.

Consisting of a grid of mini-video players, it displays a Youtube video in each and plays ten seconds from each one in a random order. Once a clip has played it’s replaced by another, creating a never-ending web video showcase.

The videos are all sourced from Twitter posts that link to Youtube and each video’s corresponding tweet is displayed below it. It’s a hypnotic experience and great way to stumble upon videos you’d probably never have found otherwise… if it doesn’t drive you insane first.

It appears so.

At this moment in time, many blogspot blogs aren’t loading, YouTube is either failing to load or unsearchable and embedded videos aren’t loading elsewhere. Gmail is failing to load in some locations and more importantly google search is showing frequent server errors.

This is not good, particularly as its just 24 hours since the last officially downtime.

How are things on your end?

Breaking: Google having problems AGAIN??

Update 1: This may once again be location specific. Reports from people in the US suggest they are only having issues with YouTube and some with GMail.

This is breaking news, more to come as we hear it.

Death on the Web!

Upload CinemaUpload Cinema takes the best of the web to the big screen. Every first Monday of the month a fresh program of inspiring and entertaining internet shorts is screened at Movie Theater De Uitkijk in Amsterdam. Each month there is a new theme. The audience can submit videos; an editorial team selects the best.

On May 4th (as the Dutch memorialize the dead of WO II) Upload Cinema looked at the way death is eternalized on the web. Yes, there was war & terror, blood & guts, but also art & poetry, impressive death rituals and lots of black humor. From 141 entries, 36 were chosen. Guest curators were: journalist Ben de Dood and poet Frank Starik.

Google chrome video shorts, (almost) cooler than the Apple Ads.In an attempt to make the browser cool, Google have released a number of video shorts promoting Google Chrome in manner equivalent to Apple’s iPod ads (watch the first one, you’ll see what I mean).

11 of them are currently live on the Google Chrome Channel on YouTube, some of them are particularly good (shared below). I cannot wait for the Mac release, speed it up Google!

The staff at Google London are given a treat. (Stop what you’re doing and watch this.)

The staff at Google London are given a treat. (Stop what youre doing and watch this.)This has already been viewed upwards of a million times on YouTube and with good reason.

These two British beatboxers take the art to a whole other level, and the staff at Google London had the privilege of watching them live in what looks like their cafeteria.

Not only are they super talented but they’ll make you laugh…hard.

They’re called Nathan “Flutebox” Lee and Beardyman, and as great as the beginning is, it really does just better.

Android users get a selection of new features. Upload to YouTube and more.

Android users get a selection of new features. Upload to YouTube and more.

Google have just announced a number of new Google Mobile features and improvements, many of which will make iPhone users drool with envy.

Gmail users can now select multiple-threads to easily archive, delete, label or mute several threads at once, something we tend to take for granted on the desktop.

The big news however is on the media front.

Android users can now record and upload videos to YouTube as easy as ‘record and share’, something iPhone’s appear to be a long way off. You can also able to select privacy settings making it easy to share video with the world or a select group of people.

Picasa users are also in for a treat and can also upload photos directly from their phone to PicasaWeb. Just like YouTube- after taking a picture tap ’share’ when viewing a photo and select Picasa.

That’s not all, voice recognition on Android has reportedly been improved, making it easier to find what you’re looking for and fast.

Man uses YouTube to help deliver baby

A British man put YouTube video tutorials to the test by using one to assist him in the birth of his baby.

Marc Stephens, a naval engineer from Cornwall, England decided to do a little research when his wife Jo started to feel a little discomfort.

“I Googled how to deliver a baby, watched a few videos and basically swotted up, I can tell you one of them was called ‘How to Deliver a Baby in a Taxicab.’” Mr Stephens said to the BBC

Stephens phoned the midwife when his wife awoke having very regular contractions, but when no midwives available to come to the house, they were told to order an ambulance. When the ambulance didn’t arrive in time, the YouTube tutorials kicked into gear.

“The videos gave me peace of mind. I think I would have coped, but watching videos made things much easier,” he added.

“My youngest daughter woke up and was standing right behind me watching the whole thing!” he told the Telegraph.

To which Jo added:

“I wasn’t panicking at all. I have to say, out of all my four labors, that was the one I enjoyed the most.”
