“Sorry I’m late”. An inspired piece of stop motion video.

Created by Tomas Mankovsky, Sorry I’m Late is a stop motion animation created entirely from still images shot from a camera hung from the ceiling pointing straight at the floor. Nothing short of incredibly impressive if you ask me.

You can watch the making of too if you’re interested.

Blocter: Who are these bloggers anyway?

Dutch student Jorrit Spoelstra is a talented student at a Dutch art academy who has just started a new project titled ‘Blocter‘. Jorrit aims to find out who the people are behind popular blogs and he uses videos interviews as his tool.

In short video interviews Blocter will try to find out who these people are and why they keep blogging. The videos are interested and of high quality. Interesting to watch if you are a blogger yourself but also if you aren’t one and are wondering what it is like to be a high profile blogger yourself.

The first video is about Marjolijn Kamphuis who started Dutch Cowgirls, a blog written by female writers only, but intended for both male and female readers.

Check it out:

Created by Tribal DDB and Stink Digital, this interactive campaign promotes Philips’ latest television, the CINEMA 21:9. Tribal DDB, Amsterdam commissioned Stink Digital to create a movie that could “hold its own with Hollywood’s best”. Director Adam Berg delivered an idea for an epic ‘frozen moment’ cops and robbers shootout.

Really, its far too cool for its own good.

Official: Twitter will launch ‘premium’ business tools by the end of this year.

Official: Twitter will launch premium business tools by the end of this year.Twitter plans to introduce premium tools and services to help businesses serve their current and potential customers by the end of this year..

Business Products

Although there have been rumors and discussion about potential business products on the horizon, it was Twitter co-founder Biz Stone who officially confirmed the news at the Reuters Global Technology Summit in New York.

Stone said that Twitter’s plan focused on two core phases:

Phase one has and is being spent collecting intelligence on how people use the service.

The second phase will see Twitter launching tools and services on top of free micro-blogging, these premium tools will be aimed at companies that wish to use Twitter to stay in touch with customers.

Regarding the type of products, although there was no definite answer, Stone says it will be “simple stuff” such as lightweight analytics.

“If there is a way we can go above and beyond, and they (companies) can improve bottom line by offering services we can offer for a fee, (we) will do that.”

He made it clear that a Twitter advertising revenue model was not on the cards and that at no point would they charge users for using the current product offering.

Growth

Another fascinating nugget from the interview was in regard to Twitter’s growth rate. Stone pointed out that the Twitter team are fully aware that their current growth rate is unsustainable. According to their statistics, if they continue to grow at this rate – they will run out of people on planet Earth by the end of the year.

Which begs the question, are we really alone? :)

How the internet was envisaged in 1969. (video)

Here’s a interesting take from a 1969 TV show predicting the emergence of the internet and how life would be in the future.

Sure enough, we do use the web for shopping, banking and document exchange – so in that respect, it’s not all too far off. Of course, there’s no mention of pop up windows, spam, pornography and hackers.

This is why we’re entrepreneurs. (video)

Just watch it.

Death on the Web!

Upload CinemaUpload Cinema takes the best of the web to the big screen. Every first Monday of the month a fresh program of inspiring and entertaining internet shorts is screened at Movie Theater De Uitkijk in Amsterdam. Each month there is a new theme. The audience can submit videos; an editorial team selects the best.

On May 4th (as the Dutch memorialize the dead of WO II) Upload Cinema looked at the way death is eternalized on the web. Yes, there was war & terror, blood & guts, but also art & poetry, impressive death rituals and lots of black humor. From 141 entries, 36 were chosen. Guest curators were: journalist Ben de Dood and poet Frank Starik.

The staff at Google London are given a treat. (Stop what youre doing and watch this.)This has already been viewed upwards of a million times on YouTube and with good reason.

These two British beatboxers take the art to a whole other level, and the staff at Google London had the privilege of watching them live in what looks like their cafeteria.

Not only are they super talented but they’ll make you laugh…hard.

They’re called Nathan “Flutebox” Lee and Beardyman, and as great as the beginning is, it really does just better.
