The guys at Web Designer Depot put together a list of screenshots from various Operating Systems dating back nearly 30 years. If you haven’t had a browse already ensure you do, otherwise have a skim of our selection below including the latest Windows 7 release.

Mike Pinkerton, the man behind the excellent Camino web browser for the Mac is also the man behind the Mac release of Google Chrome.

On his blog, he made available the first shot of the UI for the Mac release of the Google browser, and although it’s very basic – we’re already excited.

The shot below is actually of the first time he ran Chrome and loaded a webpage.

Pinkerton points out, one of the major hurdles behind the Mac version of Chrome is allowing for individual tabs to crash yet the entire browser to keep on running. Webkit, the engine behind the browser simply doesn’t run that way which has meant a large amount of time devoted to figuring that out.

Below is another (just) released shot of the browser which appears whenever a page isn’t able to load.

WordPress’ Write panel throughout the years

Ozh, “a 36.736 years old dude living in France”, made the effort of collecting screen shots of all the Wordpress’ back ends we’ve seen in the last five years. From Wordpress 0.7.1 (May 2003) to WordPress 2.7.

Ozh jumped in the Wordpress game when version 1.0.1 showed up, so I guess it’s safe to say he’s a true expert. Thus make sure to check out his post, as he wrote down some witty comments.

Here’s a Flickr slideshow with the screenshots. See it grow man!

Five weeks ago I wrote about the home improvement going on at Flickr HQ. The Yahoo-owned photo service presented the design in a sneak peak fashion. After clicking on a button on the homepage, going through the Flickr balloons and a MIDI version of Sinatra’s Strangers in the Night, the new homepage appeared.

Those of the 31 million Flickr members who could resist the temptation of clicking on the “Psssssst! Want a sneak peak at your new homepage?” will now see the new homepage as well.

After a sneak peak of five weeks, the new Flickr homepage launches

Flickr wanted to show its users more of the social interaction of the service, hence the homepage now consists of all kinds of “check out these things in your social circle” elements. The page shows more pictures from your contacts, introduces the latest pics from your groups, and pushes the blog plus your personal stats to the front.

Check out the announcement on Flickr and don’t forget to watch the fancy screencast.
