Apple’s signage for the March 7th iPad 3 event is nearly complete [pictures]

As we all know, Apple has made the iPad 3 all but official with the announcement of its event in San Francisco on March 7th.

The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center on Howard street in San Francisco, and the sign on the side of the building is nearly complete.

Take a look at the wonderful Apple logo surrounded by extremely vibrant reds, yellows, blues, and greens:

As of right now, there is no writing on the sign to explicitly confirm what the event will be about, but we’ll keep an eye on it for you.

Meet the startups from Angelhack 2011 [video]

Over $15,000 dollars worth of prizes were given out to startups created at the 24-hour hackathon Angelhack this weekend. The hackathon was organized by Greg Gopman who arrived in Silicon Valley just four months ago from Miami. Gopman had the idea for a new kind of hackathon where instead of being lumped in an unknown team, hackers were networked and ‘speed dated’ for the first few hours of the event.

Adobe sponsored the event by giving hackers access to their office space in SOMA. Over 300 people took part in the event, hacking together over 30 startups in teams from two to eight people and yours truly judged and moderated the final pitches where entrepreneurs had two minutes to pitch and one minute’s feedback from judges.

Below are some of the startups that emerged from Angelhack 2011.

GoonBuggy – your liver’s best friend. An app that helps keep track of alcohol consumption.

D2020 – an initiative to help people learn to make games, through games.

SwingDaddy – an app giving you professional golfing advice through video

YouTube to live stream Pope John Paul II Beatification ceremony

On the heels of the wedding of William and Kate, the Beatification ceremony of Pope John Paul II will be streamed live on YouTube this coming Sunday.

YouTube announced on its official blog that on Sunday, May 1st, at 1:00am ET / 9:00am CET, people across the globe will be able to witness the event on YouTube’s Live browse page. The Vatican created its own channel to celebrate the late pontiff, which consists of videos that document his pontificate.

The Vatican’s own player will present the ceremony as well, which will see hundreds of thousands of people attending the Beatification ceremony in person in Saint Peter’s Square.

The live stream will end at 4:45am ET / 12:45 CET and the entire ceremony will be uploaded to the YouTube channel dedicated to the celebrant, allowing anyone a chance to witness the ceremony at their leisure.
