Strawphylactic; noun, The little piece of paper that a server leaves on the end of a straw when a non-alcoholic drink is brought to you.
Artifiction; noun, An item found in an archaeological site that is not a true artifact.
Enterfear; noun, Phobia of the unknown, especially entrances and introductions.

Addictionary :: What's your word?Addictionary.org is different and I like it!

It is a dictionary but not in the usual sense of the word. In fact, it is a dictionary for the non-sensical sense of words. Language is alive and Addictionary celebrates this by showing you its offspring. You can look up words like Inverseratefruititarian and Mishmash and use these to liven up your blogposts and casual conversation.

Don’t spend too much time at this because I’m sure it will lead to compunesia unless you are planning to use it as foreploy in which case you should be careful not to end up a jargonaut.

I hope you like that post!

How do you spell ‘Subtlety’?

Here is a simple but nifty tool that might save you a click per day: WebSource.it.

All it does is submit two queries to Google and get you the total number of results for each query. No actual search results but just two numbers. This is useful for some people who use Google to determine how words are spelled or to find out which product is more popular.

As the site explains “Is it privilege or priviledge? Away from or away of? Microsoft rocks or Microsoft sucks?”

The service is simple and cute and I enjoyed playing with it for a few minutes. I don’t think it will replace Answers.com for me but maybe it will settle a few office discussions. Either way, I now finally know how to spell my own name
