YouTube Leanback is live. It’s time to get chilled.

YouTube Leanback is live. It’s time to get chilled.

It’s been a while since we were first told about YouTube Leanback, but apparently it’s now official.  Leanback is still YouTube, but requiring less interaction from you.

Based on preferences that you’ve set in the past (favorites, Like or Dislike, etc), Leanback will automatically start playing videos for you as soon as you hit the site.  The idea, of course, is to allow you to view from the sofa or…leaned back in your office chair.

On top of the convenience, there’s also the quality.  Leanback has one way to play: the highest possible.  That is to say that everything in Leanback will be played to you in full screen and high definition, continuously.

Take a gander at the video to see more:

Of course, you can still control what YouTube Leanback plays. Using the arrow keys on your keyboard will take you to the previous or next video, while up and down will allow you to search and access player controls. No mouse required.

Now, if you’ll pardon me, I have some cat videos to catch up on.
