Picture 716 300x163 FIFA, the football game, comes to FacebookIn time for the world cup, EA Sports has announced the launch of FIFA on Facebook and its near 500 million members, 200 of whom play social games every month.

FIFA Superstars is free to play online but buying players for each team will cost around £1-£2 per pack.

You’ll obviously be able to compete against your friends and the players they have bought. The more you play, the more each player earns in points and the more team members can be bought.

Unfortunately it isn’t quite the same as your standard FIFA. With FIFA Superstars, you are only a manager of virtual teams of real players but there is reportedly strategy involved. The game lets players train and manage teams and build stadiums. Using EA’s licence from Fifa, football’s governing body, footballers can be bought and sold and players can choose to challenge friends or take on teams from the World Cup or the UK’s Premier League.

The game was created by social games developer Playfish, which EA purchased for a cool $300 million last fall.
