Old CRT TVs make for interesting musical instruments

So you suck at guitar. And piano. And drums. Well, there may be hope for you in the music biz yet if you can figure out a novel stage act, like Japanese artist Ei Wada.

Wada is all about repurposing old electronic appliances and gadgets into musical instruments. At a recent performance at the Kenpoku Art festival in Japan’s Northern Ibaraki Prefecture, he demonstrated how he used a bunch of CRT TVs – yep, those old ones with curved screens and massive bodies – into percussive instruments that also allowed some amount of pitch control.

It may not be for everyone, but at least Wada’s work is unique and fun to watch. If you like that, check him out playing a stand fan like an electric guitar.
